A QUIET TIME

Before I face the challenges
That this new day will bring,
I seek time alone with Jesus,
My source of every good thing.
In the stillness of those moments,
I listen to His voice.
He also inclines His ear to me,
For that, I can rejoice.
A quiet time, a quiet place –
Before I launch into the deep.
Before cell phone, before e-mail
An appointment I must keep.

GOD RESPONDS TO FAITH

You're worried about your situation -
It's written all over your face.
Yet, you're always the first one to proclaim
How God fills you with His love and grace.

Then why does anxiety grip you so
And leave you consumed by doubt?
You're so fearful you can hardly sleep.
But I ask you, "What is faith about?"

Worry is a slap in the face of God –
You're saying, "God, you can't meet my needs"
And you don't know what I'm going through.
You can't forgive me for my sinful deeds".

God responds to faith every time.
With boldness, let your requests be made known.
Faith moves the heart and hands of God.
He won't forsake you nor leave you alone.

HE'LL FILL THAT VOID

God knows the emptiness you feel
He wants you to know that He can heal.
He'll fill that void and give you rest
So you'll tell others how you've been blessed.

YOU'VE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE

Relationship after relationship,
They've all failed to endure --
Leaving you hopelessly empty,
Unfulfilled, unloved and unsure.

Houses, cars, material things,
They promised you peace and more.
But none of them brought satisfaction.
You find yourself morally poor.

Heeding the call of booze and drugs,
Searching for some kind of high.
But stooping to a new low each time
Has left you lonely -- living a lie.

I'm offering you a lifelong friend
The One who has set me free.
For I had once tried everything else
And everything else had tried me.

Jesus is The One I'm offering,
He'll be there when all of them --
Have left you standing all alone.
You've tried everything else
...Now try Him.
